How to Report Fake Reviews on Your Google Business Profile

How to Report Fake Reviews on Your Google Business Profile

Fake reviews on Google business profiles are a serious threat to your brand’s image and you should never allow them on your profile. If Google determines that a business owner has violated the reviews policy, the business profile might be restricted in certain ways including:

  • Not being able to receive new reviews for a set period of time
  • The existing reviews will be unpublished for a set period of time
  • The profile will display a warning to let people know that fake reviews were removed

Unfortunately, fake reviews are sometimes posted by users who want to harm someone’s reputation intentionally.

If you encounter fake reviews on your profile, there are 4 ways to report them:

In Google Maps

  1. Find your Business Profile on Google Maps
  2. Scroll down to the fake review.
  3. Click More.
  4. Click Flag as inappropriate.
